The Ministry of Defence has announced a press briefing scheduled for 10:00 AM today to provide further details on Operation Sindoor, the Indian Armed Forces’ recent precision strike targeting terrorist infrastructure across the border.
The operation, conducted in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, marks India’s most significant military action inside Pakistan’s undisputed territory since the 1971 Indo-Pakistani war. According to sources cited by CNN and ANI, Indian forces struck nine targets—four in Pakistan, including Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot, and five in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The coordinated operation involved the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, using precision-guided munitions and loitering drones. Prime Minister Narendra Modi closely monitored the mission overnight, and all selected targets—reportedly linked to terror outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)—were successfully hit.
In a statement, the Ministry emphasized that the strikes were “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” clarifying that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted and that great care was taken in selecting the targets.
Meanwhile, tensions escalated along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB), as Pakistan resorted to unprovoked and indiscriminate firing, including artillery shelling, on civilian areas. The Indian Army reported the death of three innocent civilians in the incident, which occurred during the night of May 6–7. The Army confirmed it is responding in a “proportionate manner” to the aggression.
